Our Policy
TPR, Inc. primarily places retiring thoroughbred racehorses through sale or adoption. Stalls at the track are only assigned to horses that will be racing. Riding or pleasure horses cannot be stabled at the racetrack. Due to this fact, if the situation is not working out, the previous owner is usually not in a position to take the horse back. In these rare instances where the new owner cannot or does not want to keep the horse, we will contact the former owner to see if they can take the horse back. We also will help sell or adopt out that horse. We advise all sellers to ask for references from potential buyers, such as veterinarian, blacksmith and boarding stable. Check these out to determine if this is an appropriate place for your horse. A right of first refusal is good to put in the bill of sale. It's purpose is to prevent the horse being sold at a slaughter auction, not resold to a proper home. |
